Mamie Till-Mobley seeks justice for the 1955 killing of her 14 year old son, Ernest Till. During the Civil Rights Movement, Mamie is an educator and activist. Her true story depicts Ernest's visit to Mississippi to visit his cousins. While in Mississippi, Ernest, still a child, whistled at a white woman. Beaten and killed by white supremacists, his body was drowned in the Talahachee River. His mother feels the need to do something to shed light on this situation. Through her grief, she educates the world in this emotional drama that is all told through her perspective.
