Event Details
In this workshop, you will learn to decorate a flower pot using Lippan art, a traditional Indian folk art form from the desert region of Gujarat. Lippan art is known for its intricate patterns and mirror work, traditionally made with clay.
In this session, we will give a modern twist to the traditional method — instead of clay, we’ll use thread to create raised patterns. This technique gives a similar textured look while being easier and faster to work with.
All materials will be provided.
Topics covered in the introduction:
- A brief background of Lippan art and its cultural roots
- Demonstration of techniques using thread and mirrors
No prior experience is needed. Just bring your creativity and enjoy making your own beautifully decorated flower pot to take home!
