In the 1930's in Bay City, everyone knows that Detective Philip Marlowe is the one to hire to find a missing person or crack a murder case. Yet, Marlowe hasn't had the best of luck lately. When a beautiful, glamorous and wealthy heiress, Clare Cavendish, the daughter of the famous actress Dorothy Cavendish, shows up asking for Marlowe's help, it looks like the detective's luck is finally taking a turn for the better. It seems like a simple, open-and-shut, missing-person's case. Clare needs Marlowe to track down her ex-lover. Yet, Marlowe has a nose for trouble. When he realizes that more deadly events are taking place, he has to watch his back while trying to solve a larger case within the case.
